Learn how to manage the computers in your enterprise using Altiris Client Management Suite™. You also learn how to use the reporting features in Client Management Suite to track and monitor your environment, from viewing inventory information to monitoring the status of jobs and tasks that you have assigned to computers. Additionally, you learn how to use Client Management Suite to do the following, which can be done from your desk using the Altiris Console:

• Identify and inventory your computers
• Deploy and configure computers
• Perform ongoing computer management, such as deploying and managing applications and keeping operating system patches current

You learn how to perform these tasks using the Altiris products included in Client Management Suite:

• Notification Server™
• Inventory Solution®
• Software Delivery Solution™
• Real-Time System Manager Solution™
• Integrated Component for Microsoft Active Directory
• Deployment Server™

Course Objectives

• Install and configure a Notification System and select Altiris solutions
• Discover resources on your network
• Install the Altiris Agent on discovered resources
• Gather comprehensive data using the Altiris Agent and inventory scan agents
• Set up schedules to automatically deliver applications and tasks to client computers
• Analyze gathered information using predefined reports
• Create custom reports
• Troubleshoot a Notification System and its various components
• Install and configure Deployment Solution 6.5
• Manage computers using the Deployment Console
• Set up and maintain strict Deployment System security
• Perform the following tasks remotely:
  • Create and restore unique computer images without visiting each computer
  • Migrate computer personalities (user files and settings) using PC Transplant® Solution software 
  • Install and configure AClient, the Altiris Deployment System Agent
  • Install and configure Altiris Automation to support the Deployment System
    This includes installing PXE and embedded automation using WinPE, Linux, and DOS as the automation operating systems
  • Use Altiris ImageExplorer to edit image files
  • Use the Remote Control and Chat features to manage computers
• Make self-installing image files for no-hassle rapid recovery of computers

• Create and use hardware independent images for cross-platform use (pre-Vista only)

• Create and use custom scripts to perform many custom computer management tasks

• Understand and use Altiris tokens to enhance and simplify computer management tasks

• Use Wise Packager to create software installation packages and deploy them using the Deployment Console

  Available online in .PDF format, Altiris product documentation can give you a good foundation of product details and concepts.
• Training guides
  Reading and understanding the material in the training guides is recommended and will significantly increase your success in class and on the certification exams.  
• Online training courses
  After registering for the boot camp, you will receive an e-mail that contains instructions and a registration key to access the online training system. You will have access to the online training courses through the last day of the boot camp. Viewing and passing the assessments for the online courses is recommended and will significantly increase your success in class and on the certification exams.
• Exam certification vouchers
  You will receive two vouchers to use for certification testing at Pearson Vue.
• Exam study guides
  These guides are good resources for preparing to take the certification exams. Each guide includes tips for taking the exam and details about the exam as well as a list of topics to study. Access the study guides on the Altiris Study Guides Web page.
• Practice certification exams
  These free exams let you test your product knowledge and become familiar with the types of questions that might appear on the actual certification exam. Access the practice certification exams on the Altiris Practice Certification Exams Web page.
